Career Biography for David S. Wood

David Wood has 30+ years of aerospace industry experience and 23 years’ experience at Bombardier and Gulfstream assisting buyers and their technical teams with business aircraft interior definition and design guidance.   He has launched into production more than160 large business aircraft and often handled the more complex and super-premium interior completions.

He started his career with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Florida.  He joined the General Dynamics Fort Worth Division where he provided aerodynamic stability and control engineering support to the F-16, F-22, and several advanced aircraft programs.  He gained his first leadership experience thereleading wind tunnel tests in both low and high-speed tunnels.   He also rounded out his technical background by training and receiving his Private Pilot’s license (VFR).

While working as an engineer, David returned to school to receive an MBA at Texas Christian University and to facilitate a move from engineering into business.  He then accepted a job as a sales engineer at Gulfstream Aerospace supporting the Gulfstream IV and V aircraft.  This role led to jobs of increasing responsibility within the sales support department including Manager of International Sales Development and Director of Product Marketing and Sales Support.  It was at Gulfstream, that David accepted his first job in the aircraft interior business as a Completion Sales Executive.  Among highlights, he defined and sold the interior package for the first Gulfstream V.

David’s boss at the time soon was invited to become the General Manager of the Bombardier Global Completion Centre in Montreal supporting the brand new Global Express aircraft.  The lure of a new and more advanced aircraft along with an offer from his old boss lured David to take an Account Manager job completing Global Express aircraft for Bombardier.

David continued to develop his expertise in the interiors’ sales business on Global Express, G-XRS, 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500 and 7500 at Bombardier with clients from around the world.  He also become proficient at leading Bombardier specification teams in their collaborative work with outside completion centers. Highlights of his time at Bombardier included leading project teams composed of customers, vendors, engineers, and interior designers to create customer solutions in first-of-kind seating, workstations, sleeping areas, sound proofing, decorative lighting, and sound systems.

Finally, David has taken the opportunity to serve his community and further round his skills base by chairing the finance committee of his local church, supporting the education of young men as a leader of the local Scout troop and as a volunteer sports coach, and by leading his neighborhood association as the President.
