Maintaining mega programs and complex projects on schedule and budget while simultaneously meeting the high quality expectations of the customer is certainly challenging. Many programs do not meet the objectives for a myriad of reasons, however one basic common denominator of all failed programs is the lack of a functional team and the communication between the team members. Anyone can learn the mechanics of being a Program Manager, however the secret of successful programs is found in the soft skills and strong leadership of the Program Manager. Successful programs are a combination of understanding the customer’s expectations (requirements), people skills, knowing what it takes to have a successful program and leadership to manage, guide and coach the team to a successful outcome. At JANUS we have developed a unique process called Action Based Program Management (ABPM) for managing programs and delivering on time and budget to the quality expectations of the customer.
Our method begins by forming a successful team through building trust between the members of the team. This requires leadership that fosters and encourages open communication and dialogue. The ABPM Program management process we created is a nine step process to manage program and keep projects on schedule and budget that yield successful results.
